【日記】語学学校の課題でショートストーリーを書いた話。

語学学校の課題で「自分でオリジナルのショートストーリを作って読み聞かせをすること。なお、物語には教訓が含まれていること。」みたいな課題があったので備忘録的に自分のスクリプトを乗せておきます。

 題材は「文明崩壊」について。まあ、正直内容は「イースター島における森林の過伐採と人口増加が引き起こした文明の崩壊」をパクっただけです。タイトルもジャレット・ダイアモンドの有名な著書そのままです。はい。すみません。

 ストーリーを作るとかいった課題は非常に苦手です。英語のライティングスキルもっと伸ばしたいなーと思う今日この頃です。

 一時期、英語の学習に割く割合を少し減らしていたのですが、もう少し増やしても良いかな、と少し思いました。あと、言い訳じゃないけれど、この課題ももう少し本腰入れて取り組んでもよかったかなー。。。と少し反省。

Once upon a time a boy and his family lived in a small island. This boy is called Kota. He lived together with his mother, father and younger sister.There was also another boy who lived in that island. The boy is called Jun. He lived together with his mother , father and younger brother, too. They enjoyed themselves every day. Kota and Jun lived happily with each other. They were best friends yet.

 

As you know, that island is very small, but the biosphere was rich there. A good ecosystem existed. There were many trees and animals. That’s why , they don’t have difficulty in surviving.Kota and Jun hunted animals and eat them to survive. And also, they collected fruits and vegetables from their abundant ecosystem.They lived in a hunt-gather society.

 

One day , Jun suddenly said “let’s make a big statue in acknowledgment of the plants and animals which supported our lives.” They cut trees down and made a big statue. And them , they held a special event for the celebration.They hoped that they will continue to enjoy that great success. Their society had an advanced civilization since that event. They started to create the agriculture and practiced the burn agriculture.

 

They burned forest to produce agricultural products. In addition, they cut trees more and more to make statues. They searched for wealth. They enjoyed momentary happiness because they didn’t understand that the forest have limited resources.Forest’s resilience didn’t catch up their wood consumption.

 

The amount of trees decreased as time passed by. And they couldn’t get vegetables and fruits because the soil was deteriorating. Almost all creatures vanished from that island at the same time because of environmental problem wit was due to Kota and Jun’s over usage of the resources.

 

They suffered from hunger. Unfortunately they were fighting with each other for the limited resources in order to survive.

 

Finally, the civilization collapsed.

 

Moral lesson of my story is that we should consider the use of our resources wisely in order to avoid the collapse of good civilization.
